By taking a 3-0 lead against England in the 5-Test rubber, Virat Kohli and company clinched the series and dampened the visitors' hope of repeating their success in 2012.

This is also the 5th successive series win under Virat Kohli having started the juggernaut last year in Sri Lanka (away) followed by South Africa (home), West Indies (away), New Zealand (home) and now England.

India dominated the entire fourth Test save the first day, when visitors piled up runs against Indian bowlers.

Skipper Virat Kohli once again led India from the front while Ravichandran Ashwin, Murali Vijay, Jayant Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja played their roles well as hosts registered a convincing win over Alastair Cook and company.

Here are the top five performances from India in Mumbai Test:

India's Test skipper and Run Machine Virat Kohli led from the front in Mumbai Test as he shattered several records.

By scoring 235, Virat Kohli broke his predecessor Mahendra Singh Dhoni's record to score highest runs as India's Test captain.

Kohli surpassed Dhoni's 224, which he slammed in 2013 against Australia at Chennai, to post top score by an Indian captain in Test.

Kohli also became only the third captain in the history of the game to post three doubles in a year after Michael Clarke (2012) and Brendon McCullum (2014). He's also the first Indian captain to achieve this rare feat.

With the help of Kohli's mammoth innings, India managed to post 631 runs in their first innings and take 231-run lead. The lead ensured the hosts didn't have to come out and bat again as England were bundled out at 195.

Murali Vijay:

He was under a lot of pressure to perform after failing to make it big in the second and third Tests. But the Tamil Nadu opener slammed a brilliant 136 at Mumbai to prove his mettle.

Vijay stitched crucial partnerships with Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli to lay foundation of a big total for the hosts.

Jayant Yadav:

The young Haryana all-rounder was playing just his 3rd Test match and went on hitting his maiden Test hundred. Batting at no. 9 Jayant plundered 104, which is a record for India, at Wankhede. The youngster played proper cricketing shots and frustrated the English bowlers throughout his innings.

The right-handed batsman put up a record 241-run-partnership with Kohli and took the hosts take significant lead and place themselves in a commanding position.

This was India's highest for the eighth wicket. It is second highest after Australia's MJ Hartigan and C Hill's 243-run stand (1908) against England.

The off-spinner also contributed with the ball in the second innings as he removed well set Joe Root.

R Ashwin

The number one bowler in ICC Test rankings, Ashwin, claimed all four remaining wickets in a matter of 30 minutes as India defeated visitors on fifth day of the fourth Test.

By claiming 12 wickets in Mumbai Test, Ashwin grabbed seventh 10-wicket-haul in a match.

Ravindra Jadeja:
