Delhi signs up promising Unmukt Chand for IPL IV

New Delhi, Jan 13 (PTI) Promising Delhi batsman UnmuktChand, who made his first class debut only last year, hassigned up with Delhi Daredevils for the fourth edition ofIndian Premier League starting April 8.

"I am really happy to have signed up with DelhiDaredevils. It is big boost to my career. It will be awonderful experience to share the dressing room with the likesof Virender Sehwag and Irfan Pathan," Chand told PTI.

Chand, who will be turning 18 on March 26, will be onethe youngest players in this year''s IPL along with Rajasthanmedium pacer Deepak Chahar, who have been roped in byRajasthan Royals.

Talented Chand has been one of the finds of the seasonfor Delhi. Opening the batting, the right-hander scored 400runs in his first year in the domestic circuit at an averageof 57.14, which includes a 151-run knock against Railways andtwo half centuries.

Asked whether he expected an IPL offer at such a nascentstage of his career, he said: "I never had any expectationwhen I started playing cricket. I never played the game likethis. Things just happened."

"My moto is to work hard and score runs for my team. I amhappy that my hardwork paid off in my very first Ranjiseason," added Chand, who is presently busy with hispreparations for the CBSE pre-board examinations and willresume his practice once the exams are over.
