Paris, May 29(ANI): Former U.S. Open champion Andy Roddick was on Saturday knocked out of the French Open by Russian qualifier Teimuraz Gabashvili in straight sets.
Gabashvili beat the sixth-seeded Roddick 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 in just one hour 56 minutes.
The 27-year-old's defeat in the third round will go down as one of the biggest shocks of this year's tournament, although the American did struggle to reach the third round after missing the entire clay-court season this year, The New York Times reports. abashvili now meet Spanish ninth seed David Ferrer or Austrian 22nd seed Juergen Melzer for a place in the quarterfinals.
