Beckham to cheer England team from dug-out

By Super Admin

London, Mar 18 (ANI): Injured ace midfielder David Beckham will join England at the World Cup to cheer the team from the dug-out.

The injured star, 34, is determined to join coach Fabio Capello on pitch side.

Beckham has already been offered a place with the squad by Capello, and been flooded with requests for commentary jobs.

"Becks has said he would rather sit at home and watch it on the telly than commentate. He belongs on the bench with Capello and the team. That's where he's the most use," The Sun quoted a source, as saying.

"His mind is made up and he will go to South Africa as a Fourth Lion for England. The lads will be thrilled," the source added.

Yesterday, wife Victoria helped Beckham as he left the Finnish clinic where he had surgery on the ruptured Achilles tendon that ruled him out of playing in South Africa.

Posh held his hand as they were driven to an airport in a people carrier, with glum Becks resting his plastered left leg on a seat.

An onlooker said: "He looked miserable." (ANI)
