Lahore, June 5 (ANI): Pakistan's selection committee member Shoaib Mohammad has defended the selection of opener Salman Butt for the World Twenty20 Championship beginning in England from today.
Talking to reporters at the Gaddafi Stadium, he said that Salman Butt has been preferred in the team for his experience and he carries a huge burden of responsibility with him.
"We still are faced with the opening pair problem and Salman is the one we can rely on at the moment. He can overcome his mistakes and come up to the expectations," he added.
Mohammad further said that Pakistan along with India and South Africa are favourites for the T20 title.
"During the previous World Cup T20 Pakistan was no where near the top teams but with good performance they made it to the final," The Nation quoted him, as saying.
Commenting on Pakistan A team, Mohammad said that they have tried their utmost to give a chance to all the top performers of domestic cricket. (ANI)
