Delhi prepares for 2010 Games, $13.3 bn allotted

New Delhi, May 12: The Delhi government on Tuesday, May 12 revealed complete city operation plan and other stakeholders presented on their plans towards the hosting of the Commonwealth Games scheduled to take place in Delhi in 2010.

An overview of the efforts being made by the Delhi government and its agencies to the top brass of Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), including its chief Mike Fennel was given by Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta.

Mehta informed that around 13.3 billion US dollars would be spent in improving facilities in the city. Most of the amount would be spent before the event begins, he said. He also spoke on power, water supply, communication, waste management and city beautification.

While a presentation concentrated on the medical arrangements being geared up including hospitals like AIIMS, GB Pant and LNJP, the Education secretary disclosed that the state government will be involving schools by putting up cultural programmes in the event.
