Lahore, Nov 10 (UNI) Praising the Indian team for defeating World Champions 2-0 in the Border-Gavaskar trophy today, legendary leg-spinner Abdul Qadir said India is the 'new Australia' of the cricket world.
''I believe that India is now the new Australia of Test cricket. By beating the Aussies in the four-Test series, India has proved that it is now the world's best team,'' said Qadir.
India defeated Australia by 172 runs of the fourth and final Test in Nagpur today to complete a stunning 2-0 series win.
However, Kadir feels that India will miss their two great players-Anil Kumble and Sourav Ganguly - who had announced their retirements.
''I believe that both Kumble and Ganguly were two great assets of the Indian team and they will be missed in the coming months,'' he said.
Qadir further added that Pakistan will have to play its best to beat arch-rivals India in the home series to be held in early next year.
''India is in form and Pakistan will have to make a Herculean effort to beat them,'' he added.
