TN girl wins gold medal in shot put

Madurai, Jun 15 (UNI) Up-and-coming star N Latha of Tamil Nadu won the gold medal of Women's Shot Put at the Velammal 48th National Inter-State Athletic Championship-2008, here tonight.

Latha threw a winning distance of 13.43 metres in her attempt.

She was followed by Sushma of Delhi, who won the silver medal with 13.09 metres. Patwant Kaur of Punjab finished third with 12.95 metres.

S Saraswathi of Tamil Nadu, Steffi Cardozo of Goa, Neelam of Haryana, Medh Pardeshi of Maharashtra and S G Greeshma of Gujarat finished forth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth respectively.

Final Results: Women's Shot Put N Latha (Tamilnadu) 13.43 metres Sushma (Delhi) 13.09 metres Patwant Kaur (Punjab) 12.95 metres.
