Jamshedpur,Jan 25 (UNI) For the first time, the country's premier football academy Tata Football Academy (TFA) has organised a two-day campus selection here for the recruitment of its cadets for the country's top football clubs.
Informing this to mediapersons here, Tata Steel vice-president (corporate services)Partha Sengupta said the country's prestigious football clubs--Kolkata giants Mohan Bagan and East Bengal,Goa's Salgaocar and Sporting De Goa--had recruited 17 footballers from TFA during the two-day selection process that ended today.
Defender Branco Cardozo became the highest-paid footballer(Rs 20 lakhs). He has been recruited by Mohan Bagan among eight footballers followed by Jeeban Singh (Rs 17 lakhs),for East Bengal,who took five cadets while Hiralal Chhetri(Rs 16 lakhs) had signed for Salgaocar, Mr Sengupta said.
He said it was matter of honour that TFA had been contributing enormously to the country's football fraternity as eighty per cent of footballers were being recruited by the clubs from this academy.
