Gatorade pecers hunt to reach Delhi on Jan 12

By Staff

New Delhi, Jan 10: The Delhi round of the second edition of pace bowling hunt, 'Gatorade Pacers', will begin on January 12 and 13 at the Central Secretariat Ground, Vinay Marg here.

After the stupendous success of the first edition in 2007, Gatorade plans to look for under-15 and under-19 talent from more than 1000 schools, college and sports club in India across six cities of Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Jamshedpur in 2008.

A total of 16 potential pace bowlers will be selected from the 4 regional rounds (Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi) to go through a structured training-cum-selection workshop.

The selection process involves measuring bowling speed with a speed gun coupled with expert's assessment of action, fitness and potential of the bowler. Selectors affiliated to MRF Pace Foundation will select the participants using the scientific criteria of speed, accuracy and action.

The national finals will be held in New Delhi on January 21 and 22. Two lucky winners of the hunt will receive once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be trained at the prestigious MRF Pace Foundation through a comprehensive training program designed by the legendary Australian pace bowler Dennis Lillie.

So far the auditions have taken place in the cities of Hyderabad, Mumbai, Jamshedpur and Chennai and have received a tremendous response from the potential bowlers who want to make a mark in this arena.
