Inzamam stars, Brian Lara disappoints

PANCHKULA, Dec 1 (UNI) It was a story of two formidable batsmen, one Captains-cum-batsmen, one performing and the other flopping, in the third match of the four million dollars prize money Indian Cricket League Twenty20 Championship at the floodlit Tau Devi Lal Cricket Stadium in Sector three here today.

An unbeaten hurricane 42 in 28 balls, with three fours and two sixes, by captain Inzamam ul Haq steered Hyderabad hereos to a 33-run victory over Brian Lara's led Mumbai Champions with one over to spare in the third match of the tournament, a venture of Essel World.

If Inzamam enthralled the spectators, Brian Lala disappointed with his dismissal in the first ball he faced. An Azhar Mahmood delivery moved in from outside the off stump and the West Indian great batsman just padded away. There was a loud appeal and the umpire raised his finger. Lara's wicket fell 18 for 3.

Barring Nathan Astle, no other Mumbai champs batsmen could countered charged up Hyderabad Heores. Astle topscored with 31 which he complied in 27 balls and hit one six and one four. Robin Morris (12), Subhojit Paul (14) and Ranjeet Kirid (19) were the other main scorers for Mumbai Champs.

Earlier, Hyderabad Heroes had scored 121 for 6.
