Mumbai University retains west zone football title

Panaji, Nov 22 (UNI) Mumbai University retained the West Zone Inter University Football title as the last league match of the championship between Mumbai and lNIPE, Gwalior, ended in a goalless draw at Duler ground at Mapusa in North Goa today.

Mumbai topped the table with seven points from two wins and a draw, while INIPE, Gwalior finished second with five points from a win and two draws.

Meanwhile, host Goa outplayed Barkatullah University Bhopal 5-0 in another match played today and had to be content with third place with three points from equal number of matches. Barkatullah University Bhopal finished at the bottom with one point from a draw and two defeats.

Savio Ferandes scored four goals for the hosts in the 30th, 34th, 61st and 67th minute, while Clyde Dias scored in the 72nd minute.

The Vice-Chancellor of Goa University Prof Dilip N Deobagkar, who was the chief guest handed over the prizes to the winners.
