Sehwag's father dies of heart attack

New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) Grief engulfed the family of 'the nawab of Najafgarh' just when it was celebrating Virender Sehwag's recall into the Indian squad as the dashing opener lost his father today.

Kishan Sehwag, 70, died of a heart attack at 1430 hrs at his Najafgarh residence. Sehwag and his brothers were at the bedside when the end came.

Sehwag, therefore, had to miss the felicitation programmes for the Twenty20 World Cup winning cricket team by President Pratibha Patil at the Rashtrapati Bhavan this morning and at the residences of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

Several present and former cricketers and Sehwag's teammates attended the funeral.

The sports fraternity in the capital has condoled the death of Sehwag's father.
