Hayden given time till morning of match to prove fitness

By Staff

Nagpur, Oct 13 (UNI) Australian star opening batsman Matthew Hayden's availability for the sixth one-day international against India to be played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association ground here is in doubt and a final decision on his fitness will be taken on the morrow of the match.

Hayden, who is nursing a hip injury, did not bat at the nets today and instead restricted himself to jogging and light exercises.

However, the Australian team management has decided to give the in-form opener one last chance by waiting till tomorrow before announcing the final XI.

''Since Hayden has been in very good form in the series, we decided to wait till tomorrow and see his fitness,'' Australia captain Ricky Ponting told reporters here today.

Australia is leading the seven-match series 3-1 against India.
