New Delhi, Oct 10 (UNI) Rohan Bopanna failed to capitalise on the second chance handed out to him in the Stockholm Open as Spain's Albert Montanes brushed his challenge 7-6(5), 6-1 to move into the second round.
In the first set, Bopanna matched the 48th-ranked Spainiard shot by shot and volley after volley. But the 252-ranked Indian who had entered the main draw as a lucky loser, squandered an impressive 4-1 to eventually lose the set 7-6 (5).
However, the second set was an one-sided affair as Bopanna was no match for his opponenet who pocketed the set and the match 6-1.
Earlier, Bopanna lost his qualifying match against Butchman Peter Wessels.
Montanes will now take on fourth seed Tommy Haas of Germany who easily overcame Belgian Olivier Rochus' challenge 6-4, 6-1.] UNI
