Pune, Sept 30 (UNI) High profile junior internationals Martand Biniwale and Divya Deshpande were given top billings in the men, women, and youth boys and girls sections respectively in the annual Pune district table tennis championship, being hosted by the Royal Connaught Boat Club (RCBC) at their hall here from October 2 to 7.
While announcing the seedings, tournament secretary Srikant Anturkar and RCBC secretary for indoor sports, Niyan Joshi told reporters here today that the annual championship attracted a very enthusiastic response as a record number of 500 entries have been confirmed in the ten event card, offering total prize money of Rs 40,000.
The men's singles have the largest number of 150 entries.
The tournament is being conducted under the aegis of the Pune District Table Tennis Association (PDTTA) and the Maharashtra State Table Tennis Association (MSTTA).
