World Asthma Day: Exercises that help Asthma patients breathe easy

World Asthma Day is observed every year on first Tuesday of May. On this day activities are carried out throughout the world to motivate asthma patients to keep their asthma under control.
Asthma is a disease characterized by recurrent attacks of breathlessness, wheezing, chest tightness, and cough that vary over time in their occurrence, severity and frequency.
Diaphragmatic Breathing: The diaphragmatic breathing technique strengthens your diaphragm – a dome-shaped muscular partition separating the abdomen from the thorax that helps in breathing.
Nasal Breathing: Nasal breathing simply refers to breathing through the nose. This is a great breathing exercise for asthma patients.
Papworth Method:

Papworth Method trains you on how to breathe steadily and slowly through the nose and from the diaphragm.
Buteyko Breathing: With Buteyko breathing, you can actually learn to slow down your breathing rate.
Pursed Lip Breathing: This breathing technique is very effective when you are having an asthma attack. It helps you exhale more air, thus making breathing easier.
Yoga: Experts say practicing yoga regularly can ease and prevent asthma flare-ups, and reduce the need for an inhaler by 43%.
Progressive Relaxation Technique: This helps you tighten a muscle group while inhaling, and then relax them while exhaling.
