Is Maida good for health? How exactly does it harm our body?
Maida or refined flour is a popular ingredient in most kitchens.
It is used extensively across the Indian subcontinent to make many traditional dishes and recipes.
But is it healthy to do so? How exactly does it harm our body?
As maida has a high glycaemic index, it will release sugars into the bloodstream quickly.
It also causes inflammation in the body, which is not healthy for women with PCOS.
Also, fried maida products make it worse!
The body gets an overdose of fat and refined carbs, which disrupts your metabolism
Eating maida also raises your bad cholesterol (LDL), clogs arteries, raises blood pressure, keeps you hungry, makes you crave for sweets, causes mood swings and ruins your health.
So it is important to note that anything that is made with maida, which includes bread, cakes, cookies or any other baked goods, should be avoided.
And if one cannot avoid maida products, then they should be eaten once in a while and in moderation.
