Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu movie review: This one's all about Simbu!

Silambarasan stars in the first installment of a planned duology, with Siddhi Idnani, Raadhika Sarathkumar, Siddique, Neeraj Madhav and Aangelina Abraham in supporting roles.
The Tamil film tells the story of a young village boy Muthu who travels to Mumbai to make a living but gets caught in a web of underground activities.
Menon's films usually are driven by stories, but 'Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu' is driven by a character.
Will he reach the top or lose it all? Answer to this question forms the crux of the story.
Menon has taken his own time to build the story. The film has a spectacular first half, but the second half is not up to the mark.
The story loses the tempo in the second half and the rushed climax is a big disappointment.
Performance wise, Simbu totally rules as the innocent young man who rises up the ladder.
The film wouldn't have been half as efficient if not for AR Rahman's crazy good score.
Overall, it is an average film with a good story that is high on action and emotion.
