There is no obvious reason why you get hiccups. It could be due to stress, strong emotions, eating and drinking
If you get hiccups breathe into a paper bag, but don’t put it over your head
Pull your knees up to your chest and lean forward
Swallow some granulated sugar or bite on a lemon or taste vinegar
Hold your breath for a short time
Do not drink alcohol, fizzy or hot drinks
Do not smoke or chew gum and do not eat spicy food
Do not eat food too quickly and avoid eating something very cold immediately after eating something hot
See a doctor if your hiccups last longer than 48 hours or come back very often and are affecting your life
