Mucormycosis or black fungus disease, have made a silent comeback in Bengaluru
A couple of cases of the fungal infection has sprung up, much to the suprise to doctors in Bengaluru
What is Black Fungus? Black fungus, or mucormycosis, is a complication caused by a fungal infection. This is a relatively rare but potentially fatal condition.

The deadly infection was mostly reported among those who were on prolonged oxygen support and were administered steroids.
According to the Union Health Ministry, India had 51,775 cases of black fungus by November 2021 end.
Doctors at the Manipal Hospital in Hebbal, Bengaluru were left baffled after some patients were diagnosed with black fungus infections.
Total of four patients who are currently under treatment for black fungus.
All of them were fully vaccinated and we suspect that they recently had asymptomatic COVID-19 infections
Luckily for all the four patients, the infections were limited to the Sinus and had not spread to any other parts, which would have led to more serious complications like vision loss.
The three women have successfully undergone surgeries and the medical team is waiting for the male patient's health condition to improve to operate him.
