Meaning of Ganesha’s left, right, straight trunk
The most common side of the trunk is left, which can be easily found in houses.
The trunk curving to the left is called a Vamamukhi (facing north).
The left side of Lord Ganesha is believed to have the qualities of the moon– peaceful and blissful.
Ganesha with the trunk on the right is not common. It is worshipped fervently and religiously.
The right side trunk of Ganesha is called Siddhi Vinayaka.
In Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak Temple, the Ganesha’s trunk is curved to the right.
It is believed that the right side trunk picture of Ganesha is not good for houses.
Straight trunk Ganesha is hard to find. It means that there is complete oneness between all the body senses and the divinity is complete.
