List of National Parties in India

India, the world's largest democracy, has six national parties today. Check out the list:

AAP founded in 2012 earned national party status in April 2023.  Its election symbol is 'broom'.

BJP, founded in 1980, is world's largest political party and its election symbol is 'lotus'.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) is a communist political party in India and its party symbol is 'Hammer, Sickle and Star'.

Bahujan Samaj Party was founded in 1984 and its election symbol is an 'elephant'.

The Indian National Congress was founded in 1885 and its election symbol is 'hand'.

NPP is the first political party from Northeast to earn this status and its election symbol is 'book'.
