Former Karnataka HC Judge, Justice Bhimanagouda Sanganagouda Patil was sworn in today as the Lokayukta, anti-corruption ombudsman in Bengaluru.
Justice BS Patil was earlier a Judge in Karnataka High Court and had served as Upa-Lokayukta before being appointed as the Lokayukta.
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot administered the oath of office to the new Lokayukta in a simple ceremony at Raj Bhavan today.
Justice BS Patil was born on June 1, 1956. He enrolled as an advocate on September 5, 1980 and has practiced at trial courts and the High Court as well.
On October 21, 2004, he was appointed as a Permanent Judge of the Karnataka High Court
The post of Lokayukta was vacant since January this year when the incumbent Justice P. Vishwanath Shetty retired after completing a five-year term.
