When Apple announced the iPhone 14 last week, it dropped a bit of a bombshell
It removed the physical SIM support in the iPhone 14 series of the US model and only supports eSIM. It, too has dual eSIM support.
The eSIM today is not a new concept in India. An eSIM, or ‘embedded SIM,’ replaces the need for a physical SIM card.
It’s essentially an electronic SIM card that’s been embedded into your phone at the time of your phone’s manufacture.
Let us now look into Disadvantages of using an eSIM
eSIMs do not give you the liberty of physical control of your SIM card.
If your phone breaks, you cannot take out the eSIM and put it on a new phone
eSIM user’s phones will be constantly active on their carrier’s network, and more easily traceable
eSIMs can be tracked easily by the operators, this is good for finding your lost phone but others might not like the idea of being tracked easily.
