Three Indian cities have joined the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities
The inclusion will foster sharing of ideas with other cities. The member cities the Network supports promotes policy dialogue and peer learning among others
A learning city is one which effectively mobilizes its resources in every sector to promote inclusive learning from basic to higher education
It is also one that revitalises learning in families and communities; facilitates learning for and in the workplace and extends the use of modern learning technologies
A learning city is also one which enhances quality and excellence in learning; fosters a culture of learning throughout life
The Indian cities in this network are Nilambur and Thrissur in Kerala and Warangal in Telangana
Thrissur the cultural capital of Kerala hopes to contribute to the intellectual and peer learning processes, focusing on equitable access to learning for all, digital learning ecosystems and skills for sustainability
Nilambur which is Kerala’s eco-tourism destination aims to promote sustainable development, gender equality, inclusivity and democracy through community ownership
Warangal a tourism spot promotes equity and inclusion for which several strategies such as Women and Child Welfare policy, Urban Policy have been implemented
