India-made trainer aircraft HTT-40 unveiled: Know more
The aircraft was manufactured by state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
The contract for 70 basic trainers for the Indian Air Force (IAF) is expected to be finalized soon.
The aircraft has been designed to meet the primary training requirements of the Indian defence services.
The newly-unveiled aircraft to be used for training of new pilots before they move to more advanced aircraft.
The Trainer aircraft will also be used for basic flight training, aerobatics, instrument flying and close formation flights.
The aircraft has unique features: running change-over of pilots, hot-refueling and short- turnaround time.
The HTT-40 is equipped with the latest avionics, an air-conditioned cabin and ejection seats.
The aircraft is expected to be certified to international military aircraft training standards.
