But suddenly, something urgent comes up and you can't make it to the appointment date. What do you do?
Don't worry. There is a provision for the cancelling/rescheduling of appointment slots. Here is how to do it.
Go to the official Passport Seva website and log in using your credentials.
Click on the 'View Saved/Submitted Applications' tab and choose the 'Schedule Appointment' option.
Choose 'Reschedule Appointment' if you wish to change the date/time or 'Cancel Appointment'.
Now click on the tab titled 'View Saved/Submitted Applications' and choose 'Schedule Appointment for Application Submission'.
On this page, there will be two options: "Reschedule Appointment" and "Cancel Appointment."
Select 'reschedule an appointment', you will get a pop-up showing how many more cancellation/rescheduling attempts you have left.
Choose a fresh slot from the available slots and click 'Book Appointment' to confirm your appointment.
You will be taken to a page with the revised appointment details. Click on 'Print Application Receipt' and carry the same with you for your appointment.
