How to make Thekua at home

Here are easy steps to make Thekua, a special prasad offered to the Sun god during chhath puja.
To make thekua, you need whole wheat flour, ghee, and jaggery. Coconut, fennel seed, and cardamom can also be added to enhance the taste.
Keep a pan on medium flame and boil 2 cups of water in it.
Add 1 cup sugar in the water and stir till it melts. Once the sugar is melted, switch off the burner.
Now, knead wheat flour with this sugar syrup. Add grated coconut, fennel and cardamom powder. Rest it for 10 to 15 minutes.
The trick to making crumbly thekua is getting dough of the right consistency. Make sure the dough is not too soft for non-crumbly poori-like thekua.
Work with dough to make small cookie like roundels and drop them in oil or ghee to fry.
Fry until crisp, golden brown. Thekua is ready! Serve hot.
