Beat the Heat: Easy ways to keep yourself cool and hydrated
Follow these six tips to stay safe and healthy
Drink plenty of water: The best way to beat the heat is to stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Clothing: Go with light weight, loose-fitting. light-coloured cotton clothes during summer.
Protection from Sun: Avoid going outdoors during midday if possible. If you have to go, use wear wide brim hats, sunglasses or use an umbrella.
Avoid diuretics: Avoid alcohol and caffeine containing beverages like coffee, cola. Avoid tobacco and smoking.
Eat fruits and vegetables: Fruits and vegetables such as watermelon, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, oranges, grapes and banana can be substitutes.
Eat oatmeal for breakfast: Oats expand as they absorb water, so you’re not only getting a good meal but also plenty of fluids.
Milk for kids: Drinking milk is an ideal way to rehydrate children. Milk contains at least 90 percent water, and it also contains protein, vitamins and other nutrients.
