Come rains and we have a list of infections to worry about. One of the first ones to look out for is dengue.
For people who get sick with dengue, symptoms can be mild or severe. Severe dengue can be life-threatening within a few hours and often requires care at a hospital.
Take a look at the 7 symptoms you should know
Dengue fever causes a high fever- 104 F (40 C) and any of the following signs and symptoms:
Headache: Patients with classic dengue fever experience an intense headache
Eye pain: The most common symptom of dengue is pain behind the eyes.
Muscle and joint pains: The other two types of pain associated with dengue are acute reactive arthritis during dengue fever and other is chronic joint pain after dengue.
Nausea: Severe dengue initially presents with the common symptoms of nausea.
Vomiting: Recurrent or intractable vomiting is a warning sign of severe illness in dengue infection.
Swollen glands: People with dengue also complain of swollen glands.
Rash: Rashes are a distinctive sign of dengue. It may appear within 3-4 days of the fever and cover most of your body.
So look out for these symptoms and seek medical advice immediately if you suspect dengue.
