Well, powerful speeches, heart-pumping slogans by towering leaders and freedom fighters had a huge role to play in making the country's freedom movement so massive and collective.
As India is celebrating her 75th Independence Day, it is time to revisit some of the popular slogans given by leaders during the freedom movement.
Tum Mujhe Khoon Do, Main Tumhe Aazadi Dunga: This slogan was given by Netaji Subhash Chandra bose while delivering a speech to soldiers of the Indian National Army in Burma.
Inquilab Zindabad: This phrase was coined by the Islamic scholar and prominent communist leader Maulana Hasrat Mohani in 1921. It was popularized by Bhagat Singh.
Satyamev Jayate: This famous slogan was given by Mahatma Gandhi in August 1942 when he addressed the Congress delegates after the Quit India resolution was passed.
Swaraj Hamara Janm Sidh Adhikar Hai: This slogan coined by Bal Gangadhar Tilak inspired lakhs of people to participate in the freedom movement.
Both 'Quit India' and 'Simon Go Back' slogans were coined by a lesser-known hero of the Indian freedom movement Yusuf Meherally.
Gandhi ji gave a clarion call to the nation when he said 'Karo ya Maro' during the Quit India Movement.
"Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamare dil mein hai, dekhna ki zor kitna baazu-e-qatil mein hai" slogan became a war cry for India's freedom struggle.
