Virat Kohli becomes first Indian captain to achieve this record
The new star skipper of India, Virat Kohli, who is in the form of his life, has achieved another feat to become first Indian captain to score 1000-plus runs in Test cricket for the 2016-17 season at home. He scored his first Test hundred against Bangladesh and overall 16th in his significant Test career. The 28-year-old batting sensation achieved the milestone while batting against Bangladesh on Day One of the ongoing one off Test match in Hyderabad. In nine Tests, Kohli has scored 1066 runs in a 2016-17 season at a whopping average of 88.83 which includes four hundreds and two fifties. Before the start of One-off Test, Kohli had amassed 964 runs and was mere 36 runs short to reach 1000-mark. However, Kohli also becomes seventh overall Indian batsman after Mohinder Amarnath, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag to score 1000 runs during a home season.
