Jammu & Kashmir: Rumours over LED bulb with surveillance equipment spreads
With rumours about LED bulb spreading , Kashmir residents started breaking the LED bulbs that were being distributed under the Ujala Scheme. The bulb, which costs Rs 250 is being sold at Rs 20 under this scheme. The rumour that did the rounds was that these bulbs were fitted with surveillance equipment. It was said that these bulbs are fitted with microchips and can track the movement and conversation of the person the moment he enters his home. The rumour that spread was that it was a government ploy to keep a tab on the people and that is why it is being sold so cheap. Apart from fighting infiltrators and local terrorists, security agencies have had to deal with rumour mongering as well. "These are sustained efforts by anti-nationals to create tension which is followed by violence. This is part of the agenda to keep the valley on the boil," an official pointed out.
