India vs Sri Lanka T20I : Nidahas trophy to take place despite emergency
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday (March 6) sought to allay the security concerns surrounding the India cricket team - currently in Sri Lanka for the Nidahas Trophy 2018. Sri Lanka had declared 10 days of emergency to rein in communal violence after Muslim and Buddhist groups clashed in Kandy. In this context, IPL chairman and MP Rajeev Shukla asked the India Government to ensure the security of Indian cricket team in Sri Lanka. Later, BCCI said they have been in constant touch with Lankan officials to ensure maximum safety for the Rohit Sharma-led side.
