Ex-Armyman encourages youth to join Indian Army, sets training camp in Dehradun
Retired Brigadier Puran Gurung, father of slain soldier Lieutenant Gautam Gurung in a unique initiative to encourage youth towards joining the armed forces, has set up a training camp under his supervision in Dehradun. Several youth train in the camp daily by exercising and boxing in Gautam Boxing Club under Retd. Brigadier Puran Gurung’s supervision with an objective to condition as future soldiers in Indian Armed Forces. Puran Gurung retired in 2001 and took up social service soon after his retirement. He feels connected with his son due to the camp. “The boxing has helped the youth in the camp to join armed forces and 56 have joined armed forces till now” said Retd. Brigadier Puran Gurung.
