Mani Shankar Aiyar tea stall sells "Modi tea" in Vadodara

Vadodara, May 26: The famous phrase "When the going gets tough, the tough get going" is totally apt to use for the Congress senior leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, who took a jibe at the Prime Minister - designate Narendra Modi's background of a tea- sellor.

Post May 16 Lok Sabha election results, the political discourse of India changed and a new era will began today when Modi will oath as the 15th prime minister of India at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Coming back to Aiyar's jibe at Modi, Modi's supporters have given Aiyar a "befitting reply" by setting up a tea stall in his name 'while selling NaMo tea and falafel (a deep- fried dish) on Faramji Road behind the railway station in Vadodara district of Gujarat, from where Modi won the elections besides Varanasi, a TOI report said.

In fact, tea will be served free of cost at the Aiyar's stall.

In January this year, Aiyar had said suring the AICC meeting "I promise you in 21st Century Narendra Modi will never become the Prime Minister of the country. But if he wants to distribute tea here, we will find a place for him."

The "loud-mouthed" politician was slammed by the Congress leader Ajay Maken who said that {"the party doesn't believe in personal attacks."

J& K Omar Abdullah also tweeted saying Modi has a lot of negatives but his humble origins are a positive some of us can't claim. We aren't helping our campaign by mocking him.

BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu retorted by saying, "In the coming general elections, people would teach a lesson to the arrogant Congress leaders like Mani Shankar Aiyar, who insulted the tea vendors," he said.

Aiyar lost from Mayiladuthurai constituency in Tamil Nadu.
