Jayanagar Election Results: Sowmya Reddy beats BJP’s B N Prahlad by 2,889 votes

Sowmya Reddy of the Congress has won the prestigious Jayanagar assembly elections. Sowmya Reddy the daughter of Congress veteran, Ramalinga Reddy beat the BJP's B N Prahlad by 3,775 votes. The Congress got 54,457 votes, while the BJP got 51,568 votes. Fifty-five per cent polling was recorded in the Jayanagar Assembly constituency on June 11.

Meanwhile, independent candidate Ravi Krishna Reddy, a well known anti-corruption activist, was in for disappointment as he was able to garner only 1,861 votes. As many as 848 voters preferred NOTA.

Although Karnataka went to polls on May 12, elections in Jayanagar constituency was postponed to June 11 owing to the sudden demise of B N Vijaykumar of the BJP who was the sitting MLA. Out of the 2.03 lakh voters here, 1,11,689 voters (55 per cent) cast their votes.

The BJP had fielded Prahlad who is the brother of the late leader.
