The deputy commissioner asked the officers to make the necessary arrangements to protect life and property. Top police officers also sought bullet-proof vehicles to shift people to safer zones.

A control room was set up in the office of the deputy commissioner to work round the clock. All block development officers were asked to work closely with the panches and sarpanches and local people and guide them on safety when shelling takes place.

Sixteen temporary shelter camps were established at various places in the district to accommodate the affected families. DC Singh also instructed the officials to make these camps fully functional by providing basic amenities like food, drinking water, sanitation, medical assistance and security.

The deputy commissioner visited border villages like Banglar, Regal, Rajpura and some other shelters.
