2 Amarnath pilgrims injured as bus skids off on Srinagar-Leh highway
Ganderbal, July 6: Two pilgrims have been injured after the bus carrying Amarnath pilgrims from Baltal base camp to Srinagar skidded off the road near Kangan's Ganiwan on Srinagar-Leh highway on Friday.
The injured pilgrims have been shifted to the nearest hospital. The injured have not been identified yet.
The annual Amarnath Yatra resumed from the Pahalgam route in the Kashmir Valley while it continued to remain suspended for the third day from the Baltal route.
Three pilgrims and a helper were killed and seven others injured in a landslide that hit the Brarimarg-Railpathri stretch of the trek from Baltal to the cave shrine on 3 July. The yatra via both Baltal as well as the Pahalgam routes remained suspended on Wednesday because of landslides and shooting stones between Railpathri and Brarimarg.
The 60-day yatra is scheduled to conclude on 26 August, which is coinciding with the 'Raksha Bandhan' festival.
