Hong Kong Open: Saina Nehwal back to winning ways

Hong Kong, Nov 23: After a disappointing start in her comeback match last week, India's ace shuttler Saina Nehwal bounced back to winning ways by reaching the 2nd round of the Hong Open Open here today (November 23).

Saina rallied from a game down to defeat Porntip Buranaprasertsuk of Thailand 12-21, 21-19, 21-17 in the first round of Hong Kong Open on Wednesday.

Last week, Saina had lost to the same opponent 16-21, 21-19, 14-21 in the first round of China Open (won the PV Sindhu). This was Saina's first tournament since returning from a knee surgery after the Rio Olympics, where she failed to qualify for the knockouts.

"I am feeling good about my fitness level and it will only get better for me from here. I am quite confident of getting back to my best," Saina had said after here first round loss in China Open.

"This was my first tournament since Rio Olympics and it felt really good to be back. I was playing after a gap of two and half months after the surgery. Even though I lost early I am quite satisfied with the way I played and gave a tough fight playing against a top player," she had explained.
