Sydney, Jan 23: Former India batsman VVS Laxman has picked Sourav Ganguly ahead of MS Dhoni to captain his "India Dream XI" to face Australia in Australia.
"Star Sports" called upon fans to pick the best Indian team (ODIs) since 1985 to play Australia on their grounds and today (January 23) before the teams faced off in the 5th and final ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Laxman revealed his "Dream XI".
Under the title "Pick the best Indian team since 1985", "Star Sports" had come up with an idea to select the best in the last 30 years.
Accoring to them, the criteria for selection is - "Selecting the best India XI to take on Australia in Australia. All Indian players to play in Australia since 1985 are eligible to be selected."
"Players to be selected for the following slots - Top order (No. 1, 2 and 3), Middle order (No. 4 and 5), Finisher and All-rounder (No. 6 and 7), Spinner (No. 8), Fast bowlers (No. 9, 10 and 11)."
Laxman selected Sachin Tendulkar and Ganguly as his openers while Virat Kohli was slotted at number three. The lone spinner's spot went to Anil Kumble.
