Bengaluru, Oct 12: India's Test captain Virat Kohli has over 12 million followers on Twitter. But Gautam Gambhir is not one of them. The Delhi boys don't follow each other on the micro-blogging website.
Kohli-Gambhir fight in IPL; Fans blame Kohli for Gambhir omission
Kohli and Gambhir made news for the wrong reasons when they had an ugly on-field altercation during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match in Bengaluru in 2013.
And two years later, in the same tournament, Kohli and Gambhir fought again. Kohli captains Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) while Gambhir is the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Recently, after more than two years, Gambhir returned to the national team. He played in the 3rd and final Test of the series against New Zealand in Indore. India won by 321 runs and with that completed a 3-0 whitewash.
Before the 2nd Test in Kolkata, both Kohli and Gambhir shared a few laughs during a training session at the Eden Gardens. With Gambhir's omission for the Kolkata Test, fans blamed Kohli.
Both are fierce competitiors on the field. Both play aggressively. Coming from the same state Delhi, Kohli and Gambhir seem to not enjoy a cordial relationship.
On Twitter, Kohli follows 39 people including batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, ODI leader Mahendra Singh Dhoni and few of his team-mates like Ravichandran Ashwin, Shikhar Dhawan. But he is not following Gambhir.
Even Gambhir does not follow the Test skipper on Twitter. He is following 81 people that includes Tendulkar, Dhoni, Virender Sehwag. Among his followers, Gambhir has Tendulkar.
With Gambhir being part of the Indian Test team, the equations might change with Kohli. We might see them following each other on Twitter soon.
