KL Rahul hits ton in Ranji Trophy, added to India squad for 2nd England Test

"The All India Senior Selection Committee has decided to add India batsman KL Rahul to the Indian squad ahead of the second Test."

Visakhapatnam, Nov 15: Opening batsman KL Rahul has been added to the Indian squad for the 2nd Test against England, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced today (November 15).

Rahul, who returned after an injury lay-off and scored a century (106, scored 76 in 1st innings) for Karnataka against Team Rajasthan in Ranji Trophy in Vizianagaram today, has been recalled to the squad ahead of the 2nd Test starting in Visakhapatnam Thursday (November 17). The five-match series stands at 0-0 after the opening game was drawn in Rajkot on Sunday (November 13).

In a media advisory, BCCI said Rahul will join the team on Tuesday. "The All India Senior Selection Committee has decided to add India batsman KL Rahul to the Indian squad ahead of the second Test of the Paytm Test Series - 2016 between India and England to be played at Vizag from November 17, 2016. Rahul has fully recovered from his right hamstring injury and would be joining the squad today (November 15, 2016)," BCCI said.

Rahul sustained an injury during the opening Test of the three-match series against New Zealand in Kanpur. Subsequently he was ruled out of the remainder of the rubber which India won 3-0. Gautam Gambhir had come in as Rahul's replacement.
