IPL 2017: Match 22: Highlights: Punjab (KXIP) Vs Mumbai (MI)

Here are the highlights of the league match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab in Indore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017.

Indore, April 20: South Africa batting star Hashim Amla's maiden T20 century went in vain as Mumbai Indians thrashed Kings XI Punjab by 8 wickets with 27 balls to spare in the league game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 here on Thursday (April 20).

Riding over Jos Buttler's 37ball-77 and Nitish Rana's unbeaten 62 off 34, Mumbai convincingly chased down the target of 199 for the loss of two wickets in 15.3 overs at Holkar Stadium.

Hashim Amla of Kings XI Punjab celebrates reaching his century.

Buttler's innings, laced with seven fours and five huge sixes and Rana's unbeaten 62, comprising seven mammoth punches over the rope, outshone South African star Hashim Amla's maiden T20 century for Kings XI, as the visitors overhauled the massive target of 199, with more than four overs to spare.

Buttler and his opening partner Parthiv Patel started the onslaught from the very first over dispatching Punjab bowlers for a sixes and boundaries as Mumbai raced to 50 in just four overs.

Put into bat, the hosts were off to a steady start with Amla (104 not out) and Shaun Marsh (26) putting on 46 runs before Maxwell took just one over from pacer Mitchell McClenaghan, milking 28 runs, to change the complexion of their innings.

Punjab skipper Glenn Maxwell too made some valuable contributions with the bat as he scored a quick fire 40 off 18 balls to help his side post a good total against Mumbai.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to chase against Punjab. The move didn't derive expected results for the Mumbai side as Punjab batters kept punishing them for boundaries.
