IPL 2017: Match 20: Highlights: Bangalore (RCB) Vs Gujarat (GL)

Here are the highlights of the league match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Lions in the IPL 2017.

Rajkot, April 18: A clinical performance helped Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Gujarat Lions by 21 runs in a high scoring Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 match at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium here on Tuesday (April 18).

Chasing a mammoth target of 214, Gujarat were restricted to 192/7 in the stipulated 20 overs as Brendon McCullum's valiant 72-run knock from 43 balls went in vain for the home side.

Ishan Kishan (39 off 16) was the second highest scorer for the Lions.

Earlier, 'Universe Boss' Chris Gayle and 'Run Machine' Virat Kohli slammed their respective half-centuries as Bangalore posted 213/2 in 20 overs. Gayle (77) and Kohli (64) put up a partnership of 122 runs for the first wicket and laid the foundation for Bangalore's big total.

Cameos from Kedar Jadhav (38* off 16 balls) and Travis Head (30* off 16 deliveries) helped the visitors post the highest total of IPL 2017.

Gayle touched another milestone tonight as he completed 10,000 T20 runs and became first man to do so.

Put into bat, the visitors got off to a thunderous start with Gayle and skipper Virat Kohli (64) putting on 122 runs in 13 overs as the Gujarat bowlers failed to find an answer to their onslaught.

Earlier, Gujarat Lions' skipper Suresh Raina won the toss and elected to bowl first, but the decision to chase backfired as bowlers failed to put a check on star-studded RCB top order.
