Benguluru, Oct 17: Veteran offspinner Harbhajan Singh today (October 17) took to the micro-blogging website Twitter to clarify his comments on Indian spin tracks and said he has "got nothing" against Ravichandran Ashwin.
Ashwin slams 'juicy headline' over Harbhajan comment
As India completed a 3-0 Test series whitewash over New Zealand recently, Harbhajan had tweeted during the Indore Test that the hosts were aided by "tailor-made" spin pitches.
Ashwin was the chief architect of India's triumph as he captured 27 wickets and also won the "Player-of-the-series" award. (Kohli responds to Harbhajan jibe)
Many fans thought Harbhajan was belittling the efforts of Ashwin and other spinners. Harbhajan was criticised for his comments.
Today (October 17), Ashwin was the first to reveal that Harbhajan inspired him to bowl offspin and media should stop running stories which indicated "Harbhajan versus Ashwin" battle.
"@harbhajan_singh has been an inspiration nd I started bowling off spin only after seeing the 2001 series. This banter going on is unhealthy," Ashwin tweeted on Monday.
The Tamil Nadu spinner added, "By pitting players against each other we aren't going to gain anything but just a juicy headline.Lets respect ppl and keep the game healthy."
For this, Harbhajan responded, "Dear got nothing against you. For some reasons my words are misconstrued. Wish you nothing but the best ✌️ Keep the flag high! God bless."
