Mumbai, Jan 8: Cricketer, Member of Parliament, author and now film actor. That is Sachin Tendulkar for you. The batting legend is set to make his debut as an actor in a movie on himself.
According to reports today, Tendulkar himself will play his role in the yet to be titled biopic. Mumbai-based production company "200 Not Out" has bagged the rights to do Tendulkar's movie, "The Times of India" reported on Thursday.
Award-winning writer, producer and director James Erskine, who is based in London, will direct the movie, which will be released all over the globe in more than 2,000 theatres.
Ravi Bhagchandka, the founder of "200 Not Out", told the newspaper, "We decided to work with Erskine after studying his many incredible films involving sports personalities. This will be the first time that he will be working in this part of the world. We will work with the best in the business for the film to be a fitting tribute to the unparalleled achievements of Sachin Tendulkar. It will be a worldwide release in more than 2000 theatres," he added.
Recently, Tendulkar released his autobiography "Playing It My Way". Tendulkar, after playing international cricket for 24 years, retired last year.
Tendulkar holds several batting records including most runs as Test and ODI batsman. The 41-year-old, on the day of his retirement, was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour.
