At this year's players auction, Hogg was bought by KKR for Rs 50 lakhs. Previously, he has played for Rajasthan Royals (RR). His last IPL game before today, was in 2013.

In IPL 2015, both the youngest and oldest player records have been set. Earlier in the tournament, Sarfaraz Khan of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had become the youngest to play IPL at the age of 17 years.

As soon as KKR captain Gautam Gambhir broke the news of Hogg playing, at the toss, fans and former cricketers congratulated Hogg and hoped he would produce a big performance at MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Former Australian stumper and team-mate Adam Gilchrist wrote on his Twitter page, "@Brad_Hogg you little ripper. Go son."
