Raghubar Das asks DCs to convene Tribal Dev Councils, focus on welfare


Ranchi, Aug 9: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today asked all the district deputy commissioners to convene Tribal Development Council and take their suggestions and understand their necessities.

Addressing a review meeting of district mineral foundation, he asked to focus on welfare schemes in tribal areas and a roadmap for development, execute schemes and make them aware.


He also asked the deputy commissioners to provide basic facilities in the mineral areas.

Stating that people of the tribal society were simple and straight, Das said some people did not want them to prosper and their children to get good education.

The council has been set up with an aim to help the tribals and deputy commissioners increase communication with the people and meet farmers, labour force of the unorganised sector time to time to understand their problems and address them, he said.

The Chief Minister said it was everyone's responsibility to provide better facilities to the residents of mineral areas and the government's priority was to give drinking water, preventing disease to the maximum extent and another priority was to make open defecation free.

Expressing worry at people even now taking polluted water inviting several disease, Das said clean drinking water could prevent it.

Both the schemes should be implemented in such areas where people from scheduled caste, schedule tribes and the poor reside more, he said and also asked to construct boundary in girls' schools.

Das said the panchayati secretariat would be completed very soon and training would be imparted division-wise.

He asked every Mukhia to convene gram sabha every month, failing which action would be taken and said by 2018, Jharkhand has to be made open defecation free.

The CM said special attention should be laid on health services and development of health centres and sub-centres.

Those districts falling short of funds would be provided funds under CSR.

Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma, additional chief secretary R K Srivastav, Development Commissioner Amit Khare, Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar, CM's secretary Sunil Kumar Burnwal and other senior officials were present during the meeting.
